“I had applied to many organizational consulting firms as a junior consultant. The responses I received were brief rejections such as ‘we don’t hire junior consultants’ or ‘how many hundreds of consulting days have you already delivered?’ With one firm, it almost worked out, but they had just hired another junior, so that opportunity fell through as well.
It was frustrating.
I had studied business, had already engaged with organizations during my studies, gained initial leadership experience in a voluntary organization, and developed my own program for young leaders.
And I really wanted to learn. But most of them weren’t interested in that – after all, the priority was to be billable to clients as quickly as possible. Then I received a forwarded email from an acquaintance.
The email was from Ronald Thoma, and in just a few words he described that they were looking for a trainer or project manager for international change projects – great team, development opportunities, plus a solid training budget.
I was excited – this was my chance.
After the first conversation with Dieter Bernold, I already knew: this is my place, this is where I want to be. In the second interview, I then met all the partners. I spoke about my training in Oxford at NTL and how I had the opportunity to learn with and from very experienced OD consultants.
Ron then asked me very directly: ‘So, can you imagine working with such leaders?’
My answer: ‘Yes, I can.’
And I got the job – and I was overjoyed. In the years that followed, I was able to learn an incredible amount and complete numerous training programs. I worked internationally on many projects, gained extensive experience, and laid the foundation for my further professional development.
I experienced the ARGO principle ‘Courage earns respect’ firsthand, and it has had a lasting impact on me. Even today, I am convinced that without courage, no development is possible.
I am proud to have been a partner and co-owner of ARGO since 2026!”
